It wasn't too long ago that I posted a review on the first book of the mortal instrument series (City Of Bones) and I can confirm to you guys that sadly, I won't be reading the rest.
The books are far from displeasing and I would never rate them poorly, how ever I won't continue them because to me, the books felt like a documentary. That being because most of the book's I have read previously contain a little more shock and I tend to thrive on that heavily. (Hopefully you will understand this point as I go on.)
I can say with certainty that City Of Ashes is much better then the first book; the adventure does greaten a little, we are introduced to more characters and the characters personalities still seem to humour me when placed into a dangerous environment.
However for me, I feel that the City Of Ashes was almost the exact same as The City Of Bones, just the location had varied and the only surprising event which took place was Simon's change.
One thing that pleased me more about this book was the ending; I had anticipated with TMI being such a large series that the first book may have ended with a cliff hanger, instead for me it was almost
a happy ending, the one that you wish every story would include. Happily, the second book ended a little more abruptly which is something I was extremely pleased about.
For the first time in reading, I anticipated certain things to happen but the odd thing for me was that I had guessed correctly and although I was pleased to have guessed it, it erased the excitement.
In conclusion to that, I am intrigued to read Clare's other written books as I do enjoy her style and feel that her books provide me an easy read.
Let me know your thoughts on these books if you have read them! :-)
